Kathleen's Story
Life
I live in Chicago and am in the final years of my PhD program at Northwestern University in Biological Anthropology. My dissertation research is studying the impact of stress and abuse on immune function, contributing to susceptibility to HIV-infection in Chicago. I love my research and it keeps me very busy.
I am currently enjoying life with my little puppy girl, a black pug named Sumi. Additionally, I spend lots of my free time being bridesmaid extraordinaire on behalf of all my good friends.
I decided to undertake reunion planning because my parents have a lot of experience and know-how for these kinds of things. I am looking forward to putting together a nice committee of people to help out!

Workplace
I am currently working as a Qualitative Research Study Coordinator heading a study on recently HIV-infected people in Chicago. It's a fantastic study, funded by the CDC and done in conjunction with the University of Illinois-Chicago and the Chicago Department of Public Health. It's such a fantastic opportunity for a poor struggling graduate student - it provides financial wherewithal to finish my PhD and also opens a lot of doors for me for the future!
