Kathleen's Story

Married 39 years to DeweyBarnett, and we both retired, he from the US Navy and American Airlines and I retired from teaching high school in 2010. Sadly he passed away in 2022 so I am enjoying small town life on my own. We have one son, Clay. My main hobby is genealogy, and I love history and good movies. I like to catch up on my reading list when I can. Since college I have worked as a hospital dietician, county extension home economist, USDA child nutrition program administrator and 24 years as a high school home economics teacher. I started my masters degree ...Expand for more
at SFA and finished with a M.Ed from Texas A&M in College Station while working for them as Brazos County Home Economics & 4-H Extension agent. I loved my college days in Tyler and Nacogdoches and am amazed when I go back and see all the really impressive changes. I miss all the friends I made in college, and if you're reading this, then you might be one of them. Even though I attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Hurst all those years, my family moved away just before my junior year and I graduated from Grand Saline High School in East Texas.
