Kathy's Story
Life
I know the 10 year reunion is coming up and I decided not to go. One, I am in California. Two, I didn't keep touch with anyone from high school. It's not like high school was a super positive experience for me. And also, I am in the midst of my hectic semester here at San Jose State. I just don't have the time to get away. But I am happy, single and can still fit into my cheerleading uniform (in case you were wondering). No kids. No husband and no divorce. I am one of those women who feels very strongly about getting my own shit together first before settling down with someone for the rest of my life. And no, I am not gay. I shaved my head earlier this summer and people seem to think if you shave your hair off then you must have changed your sexuality. College
Currently, I am in my last year here at San Jose State. I am in the process of applying to Graduate School either at SFSU or UC Berkeley. My goal is to get into Cal, study Sociology, be a GSI (Tea...Expand for more
chers Assistant) during my entire school career there. and Eventually I would like to teach my own classes and make wakeboarding videos over the summer.
Workplace
After graduation, I moved down to California and took a full-time office job. It was right at the beginning of the Silicon Valley dot-com boom. I stayed at the desk job for five years and then decided to go to college full-time. As soon as I started school full-time, I started bartending. I started at Mas Sake in Palo Alto. Then worked at Mission Ale House for two years. Now I am tending bar in San Francisco at Suite 181, two nights a week and going to school full-time (15 units plus TAing a class). I am busy, busy, busy. But I still manage to find the time to visit my family, help my little sisters with their homework, hang with friends and keep peace within myself. I never ever want to be cooped up in a office for 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week again. I'd rather be on a boat, wakeboarding on the Delta. Wakeboarding is my life passion besides wanting to teach after graduation.
