Kathleen's Story
I have a great life living and working in Southern California. When I am not traveling about the world, I teach Advanced English. It is a sweet gig; my students are pretty good, and my subject area is fun and interesting. Right now I teaching Romeo and Juliet to 13 and 14 year olds, and beleive it or not, several of us are enjoying it! Even at my age, I am still a big nerd. Oh, well, I am finally comfortable with it...
Last summer, I traveled overland all over the continent of Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya). It was the best trip I have ever taken, the people were amazing and seemingly resilient to their struggles. They are such...Expand for more
humble and devoted people. The experience really taught me to value the important things in life; health, family, laughter, love and to always maintain faith and hope. My time in Africa was spiritual, not in the religous sense but in a soulful human sense. I will definitely go back some day.
This summer however, I will travel the orient; China/Tibet (I am not going for the Olympics), Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. I hope to have another enriching experience.
I do not intend for my story to seem boastful or self-important. I really am happy with my life. It is not extravagant, and I am by no means wealthy, yet I feel rich in my experiences, and I am grateful for what I have.
