Kathleen's Story
After graduation, I started working for AT&T as a stenographer. I was promoted into first-line management there. I later took a sabbatical to continue my education. After receiving a scholarship from Washington University in St. Louis, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Use of Human Resources with final honors. I was offered fellowships for graduate studies at Wash U, but turned them down to help my husband establish and operate his retail corporation. We later spun off another corporation under my ownership for which I served as CEO for seven years.
I have been married to the love of my life for the past 37 years, and we're the proud parents of two young ladies and grandparents of four children. My husband is now retired. I returned to school about 10 years ago to earn a Secondary Education Teacher's Certification from SEMO in Business Education and a Master's in Adult Education from UMSL. ool juniors and seniors, and I have also taught on a part-time basis for St. Louis Community College, Jefferson College, Huntington College, and United College. I teach information reporting technology, medical terminology, English, and legal terminology classes.
I enjoy traveling when I can get away. My favorite places include Medjugorje in former Yugoslavia, Dubrovnic in Croatia, France (all of it!), London, Rome, Mexico (I liked the Yucatan jungles), and the Caribbean, especially Jamaica. My husband and I enjoyed our 36th wedding anniversary at Sandals in the Bahamas. We took three of our four grandchildren to Disneyworld this year.
I enjoy visiting one of my daughters frequently in Denver. She is one of the top salespeople nationally for a major television firm, and we're very proud of her. We took our motorhome to visit her earlier this summer. We also visited my husband's father in Houston, Texas and his brother in Florida this summer. Life is good!
