Workplace Upon graduation from college, I worked as an elementary teacher for 2 years at St. John the Baptist School in Manayunk (4th grade). I then returned to St. Pat's in Norristown, and I taught 3rd grade for 5 years in the very same classroom I had for 3rd grade when I attended St. Pat's many years earlier! I still have my state certification in elementary education. I left teaching after 7 years and returned to school (Katharine Gibbs School) to take a program for college graduates without a degree in business who wanted to secure a position in the business world. After Gibbs, I worked in Center City Philly at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. for 3 1/2 years. I was the assistant to the head of the investment department, and I spoke daily with multi-millionaires. It was pretty cool, but I missed teaching. I left Brown Brothers for a job in training at Dictaphone Corp. I worked there for almost 12 years, traveling around the 5 county Philadelphia area (and occasionally around the country) to train customers that bought one of Dictaphone's computer systems. It was a very interesting job, since I got to meet lots of nice people and had a lot of variety in the computer systems I worked with.
