Kathryn's Story
Life
I've been happily re-married (after a failed first shot at it in 1997) in 2004, and living outside of Denver, CO. I love it here. No kids yet, but considering the idea. My family name is pronounced "shoot", as my husband was born in the Ukraine. We met at a singles' dance here in Denver after I first moved, and our lives have been intertwined ever since.
I moved around quite a bit before that, establishing my career in the information technology world in the 90s, living in Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis, back to KC, and then, and seven years ago followed an opportunity that first brought my parents out here, and then me.
I attended Central MO State University to get a degree in Music Education and completely burned out on the idea after 60 hours of it. I changed majors and schools, and transferred to Rockhurst College in 1993. In 1995, I graduated from there with a BA in Spanish, intent on becoming...Expand for more
a professional translator. I attended Marquette University on a full-ride scholarship as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from 1995-6, and quit to find what else I wanted to do in life, besides be a Spanish professor.
By a weird series of events, the internet and tech boom in the mid-90s threw me into the IT world, where I first did a technical manual translation for John Deere, but then quickly moved into technical training after that. The more I learned about specific tools, the more I learned about data warehousing, the field I've remained in since 1998. Today I am a data warehouse architect and team lead at Wells Fargo, for a technology group within Business Banking.
I've remained in a good contact with a few friends from high school, but pretty much fell out with everyone else. Please drop me a line to let me know that you visited, and the next time I'm in Kansas City, I'll make it a point to visit you.
