Kathryn's Story

Life Married Mike Lysaght (class of 74) on Dec. 23, 1976. Married 32 years now. Mike graduated from George Mason and then joined the USAF and flew fighters, earned his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the U of Washington, taught at the USAFA and helped design future aircraft for the USAF. This caused us to move fairly often before he retired in Dec. 1999 and we moved to the Portland, Oregon area. Mike is now an R&D Director for FEI Company. We raised 4 fantastic children that range in age from 23 to 31. Three are college graduates and 3 married. Our eldest son is a narcotics detective with King County in Seattle, married a lovely woman in 2005, gave us our first grandchild (a boy - 1). We love being grandparents. Our eldest daughter has been a labor and delivery nurse and is now a nurse in the Emergency Departme...Expand for more
nt at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She married in Sept. 2008. Our younger son is also in law enforcment and is a police officer in the Portland area. Is engaged to be married Nov. 2009. Our youngest daughter married in July 2007 and she and her husband live in Tampa, Florida. I was a stay at home mom for about 12 years before I started working full time. I was with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) for almost 15 years. I was a system integration test manager. I was VERY lucky and happy to work exclusively from my home office for most of my career. No commutes, no panty hose, no work clothes to purchase. I accepted an early retirement offer from EDS and retired in Dec. 2007. I love it so far. Note: EDS was recently purchased by HP.
