Kathryn's Story
Life
I'm retired and living in Avalon with my husband of 46 years, Dick. We have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We spend 3 months in Florida in the winter so we can try to shape up the Pirates in spring training. That's a real challenge. I go to an exercise class two days a week, watch the grandkids play hockey, and mess around on the computer. We love to travel and take trips to visit our daughter in Charleston, SC (any excuse to see the grandaughter). We have a 28 1/2 ft. travel trailer and we take that on our trips.
School
I spent most of my life at Annunciation except for one and a half years at St. Cyril's on the North Side. I have many happy memories of Annunciation and the friends I had there. wn Norwood Hall. The senior play was a lot of fun, too. We had the same teacher for home room for 3 years in a row, Sister Vincent.
Everyone in my class was a nice person. We had only 31 but they were a very interesting mix of personalities. I wonder what they are all doing now.
Workplace
I worked for two lawyers right out of high school and that lasted all of 3 weeks. How boring. I worked for 3 months for Associated Theaters who owned all the drive in theaters in the area and then I went to Bell Telephone for 4 years. I then got married and had my first child and spent the next 16 years raising children. I went back to work at Northwestern National Insurance Company for l year, then 2 years at Junior Achievment and finally, 17 years with the Allegheny County Planning Department which I retired from 9 years ago.
