Kathryn's Story

Life Am married to a Kuwaiti, and have lived here for 38 years. Have two children: Lena, an investment banker, and Shemlan, an architect in Atlanta. I get back to the US at least once a year. THE INVASION OF 1990: During the first days of the invasion, my daughter hid in a closet to avoid the Iraqi troops. She had just arrived for vacation, and was visiting a friend, south of us. My husband had to plead to get her home... My daughter and husband escaped to Iran via Iraq in Oct. 1990. The Iraqi's showed them the way across the mine fields, to the Iranian boarder. RedCross was there. Told them to sleep in a park, as there were bandits in the mountains towards Tehran. Spent 2 weeks ...Expand for more
there... My house was the center of the resistance. Had all the 'fake' money here, etc. My good friend, Asrar, used to broadcast to all the U.S. news networks from here. She was caught down the street, leaving my house, to change her clothes. She NEVER said where she had come from.....Under Sada'am's orders, she was executed, after much torture....head sliced with an axe twice, then finally, shot. Left in front of her folk's house for 3 days, when they were finally allowed to bury her....There's more to say, but imagine, this is enough. I'm just a girl from good ol' Boulder, Colorado; and have been through 'this'... Was asked to say more, so I did. If you want more info, let me know...
