MY LIFE
CURRENT 18 May 2010
To keep busy I teach CCD( religion) in the fall until spring to little ones at my parish. In the summer I teach a special Bible studies. The end of July I teach at Vacation Bible School . Also, I teach Bible Study and am involved in yearly events like the Fall Bazaar. I enjoy helping at my wonderful parish with the BEST young priest!
I have been fortunate to become involved with Friendship Home. Founded in 1999, by two mothers of adult children with developmental disabilities. I serve on the staff, work on charities raising money for the house, and attend two group meetings monthly with the young adults. The group has a nickname for me "Kiss Me Kate".
The goal of the founders was to build a house. The house is14,000 Sq. Ft. withe upper floor for respite stay. The home offers day and evening programs as well as overnight respite periods of up to two weeks. The home is a center for activity and opportunity with classes, recreational activities and resources for program participants and families of the young adults. It is as we say, " The Home with a Heart".
Working with all of the friends is a rewarding experience.
Having Friendship Home and Church in my life has given me the means to give back for all of my life's blessings!
MARRIED LIFE
In 1996, I finally found a wonderful husband (William Nichtern), marrying for the first time at the age of 52! William as I call him, other say Bill, lost his wife when their daughter Carina was 15. She is married and lives in L.A where she is a devoted career woman with no desire to be a mother which is sad for us knowing we will never have a grandchild to spoil.
Since, 1997 we lived in Virginia, Californi...Expand for more
a, Florida, Ohio and Kentucky. All the moves were due to Williams position with Toyota. William retired from Toyota the end of January 2008.
We bought a lovely home in Hanover, MA, that is called the South shore of Boston. The people are wonderful, friendly and easy to get to know. It is a blessing to be surrounded by smiling faces each day. After all of our moves I feel I finally found the right place to call HOME.
We are only 25 miles south of Boston. It is great being on the eastern seacoast and near a major city with an airport making it easier to fly overseas.
William and I have had many grand travels: China, Thailand, New Zealand, France, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Holland, and Norway. We have been to many of the countries many times. But the one place we visit yearly is Ireland. William, has a large families of cousins that we grown to love as a second family. That is why we call Erie our second home.
MY CAREER
In 1969, I moved to New York City and started my retail career in the Saks Fifth Ave Executive Training Program. Later, to be a Buyer over a 12 year span.
In 1981, I left Saks to take a buying position at "The Broadway Department Store" in LA and lived an 18 month bi-coastal life style. I did not like LA and was glad I had keep my NYC apt.
In early 1983, I returned to NYC where I joined Bernard Chaus, Inc. as a media spokesperson. I loved the work, travel, and having a great boss! I traveled all of the USA, then Europe, Canada, and Mexico. My career was the best years of my single life! Even today I miss my career and those wonderful years living in New York City.
