Kathy's Story
Life
I was born in Sarasota & attended Alta Vista, Brentwood, McIntosh and Riverview Schools.
I spent my high school years trying to stick out as little as possible. I stayed buried in a book - even reading in the halls as I went from class to class & was never part of any group. I was not much involved in the 'doings' of the class during high school. I also was the target of various class bullies from elementary thorugh high school.
The class I enjoyed the most, in high school, was Col. McNary's world history class!! He was a great teacher!! I never got the chance to tell him that before he died.
The teacher that is most memorable is Mr. Theory - band teacher at McIntosh Middle School. His compassion & honest timely interest in what was happening to me during those years made a real difference in my life and ability to cope.
My mom drove school bus for many of those years. My dad was Managing Editor of the Sarasota Herald Tribune.
I have a younger sister, Laurel, who went to SHS :0( - LOL and now teaches world class windsurfing & kite-boa...Expand for more
rding - I'm so proud of her!
I was in the Army after high school. In 1983 I graduated from Manatee Junior College with a ASD Registered Nurse.
These days, I am happily married to a wonderful and very creative man, a writer of Biblical Science Fiction. I have been a RN for almost 30 years.
I am also the mother of two. Both grown. My son/Rik, 33, is planning on getting married Spring of 2011 to a wonderful woman. His older sister, Charlie is 35 with a family of hubby, 2 girls, Sam & Alex, & one boy Nicholas.
The most important things in my life are my relationships to my G-d, my family & then everything else - in that order :0) Or put another way: the most important things in my life are serving & obeying G-d, being a good wife & mother, & the best nurse I can be.
G-d has granted that I have found, rather, been found by, my daughter Charlie whom I released to a wonderful couple for adoption at birth! May the Name of the Most Holy be blessed for ever, & may He grant blessing & long life to her parents & the 'adoption angel' who helped so much!!
