Kathy's Story
Life
I have one son, his name is Aaron. Aaron is 17 yrs. old. I am now living in Galion. I am a Certified Medical Assistant.
School
The teacher who inspired me the most was Mrs. K - my Brittish Lit. and Mythology teacher.
I can honestly say I would not want to do high school over again. If I had to, I would want the knowledge I have now.
College
My year in school is still a total blur. When I decided to take the 9 month Certified Medical Assisting class (instead of the 2 years), still work full-time, raise a teen-age son on my own, and have a long distance relationship all at the same time. I don't know what made me think I could do it. But, I was determined and made it through. There was times I wasn't sure that I would. It was dificult going back, then to make things worse it was day classes at a vocational school, so I was right in with all the high schoolers. They weren't actually in our class, but we had lunch and study time with them. So, it was very odd, being back in high school at the age of 35.
Workplace

y at United Church Directories. I advanced quickly there to doing graphic designs. It was such a fun job. I then met the man that I married and moved to Toledo. I worked as a graphic artist there for a couple of companys - Auto Trader and Industrial Printing. The marriage was a bad choice, so I up and left everything. I moved back home with my son, a few clothes and completely broke. This all due to my husband. When I moved back, the Visiting Nurse Associates were offering classes for STNA. I had always wanted to be in the medical field, so I figured this was a baby step. I completed my STNA class and went to work immediatly doing home health care. I did a lot of hospic work. I worked as a STNA for a few years, then decided I was ready to go back to school again. This time I went back to get my certification as a Medical Assistant. This was the best decision I have ever made. I love my job and the work. Its such a fullfilling job. I love the hands on patient care. I am now planning on going back to school again for my RN. I am very excited about this.
