Kathy's Story

Mount Pleasant was a wonderful school. I attended in 1966-68. I still remember many of the friends I made there. After Mount Pleasant, my family moved to the city where I attended Jamison Elementary for two years before my parents bought a home in Roanoke County. I was thrilled to go to William Byrd! After graduating, I attended Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, NC. It was a blessing to be able to teach elementary school and also have a background in banking. After receiving Christ as my Savior in 1968, I promised to serve Him. Working with Child Evangelism Fellowship, teaching Sunday school, VBS, Childrens Church and singing for Him. My husband and I ...Expand for more
served the Lord through Timberlake Baptist Church for many years. Health issues keep me home but today, I am a writer. I have one novel, The Vision of a Mother's Heart and am working on the sequel.(historical family fiction) My novels are inspired by my grandmother's childhood. Set in and around Roanoke; including The Vinton School which was the building at the bottom of the hill when we attended William Byrd Intermediate.I also have written a children's book, Missy Cat in the Heart of the Tree - A Christmas Story illustrated by Ron Sumner. I am on facebook, twitter, pinterest and have a blog. Please stop by and say "hello". I would love to hear from you!
