Kathy Montgomery:  

After high school, I moved to Redondo Beach and worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A couple of years later, I joined the Navy and became a hospital corpsman. I got out of the Navy after my first enlistment and settled in the northeast for about 15 years, most of that time in a small town in New Hampshire that had a population of 2,000, a beautiful common and a white clapboard church overlooking a pond. In New Hampshire, I completed my degree in English Literature. I spent the last semester of my senior year in England and traveled all over Europe with my daughter. I also began writing for local newspapers. I came to Arizona for graduate school and stayed. I attended the master's program in journalism at ASU, then took a job at Phoenix Magazine as managing editor. After PM, I worked at the Arizona Republic newspaper.
