Kathy's Story
I married Rob Miller in June 1984. I took an early retirement from the Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Logistics Information Services (DLIS), in August 2012 and am living in Battle Creek, MI after a U.S. "tour" following Rob around for his career. I moved to Omaha, NE in September 2012 where Rob was working for ConAgra, then Greeley, CO while he worked for JBS, and then moved to Charlotte, NC for Snyder's Lance where he was the V.P. of Engineering for each company. We moved back to Battle Creek, MI in late 2017 where he led the Battle Creek office for The Dennis Group until he retired in December 2025 after 40+ years in engineering for food and beverage manufacturing. , I was fortunate enough to watch my grandchildren while their parents worked. My grandchildren are now all in school full time.
We have two children - Kyle Christopher (born 11/26/85) and Melinda Elaine (born 12/27/87). Kyle is an engineer (following in his Dad's footsteps) and married Ashley Heffernan on August 16, 2019 and they have a daughter, Leah Kay, 2014 (she and I share a birthday 6/14) and a son, Dean Charles (middle name is for Rob's middle name and Rob's grandfather's first name) in 2020. Melinda is working as a loan processor and has a son, Liiam Ethan 2017.
My sister Julie (1978 Schroeder graduate) lives in our house on Gull Lake as a "caretaker" and retired 9/15 from DLA.
My life is more blessed than I could have ever hoped for!
