Kathy's Story
After graduating from CHS, I met the love of my life, Rich Snyder, at Collinsville Park and we married a year later. We went to school at Oregon State University, and after having three daughters - Melisa, Kimberly and Kristin, I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University. I had taken two of my computer courses from Rich, who taught college night classes after work. I earned my CPA while working at Weyerhaeuser Company, a Fortune 500 Forest Products company. I worked there 20+ years, mostly as a Financial Controller. I retired in 2007 and Rich retired soon after. We have been married for over 44 years and have 4 grandsons - Raven, Celtan, Conlan and Rylan - and a granddaughter - Aiyana. We live in Kent, Washington with a beach house in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. me at each home. We have enjoyed traveling around Europe - especially when one daughter was studying in Italy and later another daughter was living in Germany - a good starting point for adventures. We have also traveled to Alaska, Hawaii - and the rest of the U.S. - and most recently Australia. There we saw amazing New Years fireworks in the Sydney Harbor, snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef, held a koala bear and petted kangaroos and wallabies. We once took a tug boat to Alaska while it was pulling a barge and another time I caught a 50 pound salmon there. I also enjoy crafts, hiking, volunteering, beachcombing, reading, fishing, photography, working on the computer, and spending time with my family and friends. We come home to Collinsville periodically to see Rich's family who still live there.
