Katie's Story
Life
After finishing law school in 2001, I moved to Chicago and have lived here ever since. Spent that summer studying for the bar exam and then headed to Europe for about a month that September - traveled through London, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Amsterdam - an absolutely amazing trip! I've had the travel bug since then and have managed to fit in trips to Spain, France, Australia, Norway, Italy and Austria again, and Portugal. I'm also a huge tennis fan so I try to make it out to NYC every Labor Day weekend for the US Open.
When I'm not traveling, I'm just enjoying Chicago - the summers are the best here - beach vball, Cubs games, street fairs, outdoor concerts, etc...
My family is still in MN so I get up there every now and then. Drop me a line - I'd love to hear from people and catch up!
College
I went to college at the U of Iowa...Expand for more
in Iowa City. Did the sorority thing (Delta Zeta), which was a blast. Majored in poli sci and econ, which of course meant the only thing I could do afterwards was go to law school! Moved back to Minnesota in 1998 to go to the U of M Law School and lived in Uptown. Finished law school in 2001 and moved to Chicago right after graduation.
I've been working as a tax attorney in Chicago ever since. In 2002, I started working on an LLM in Taxation at Northwestern part-time and I finally finished this spring! As you can see, I'm trying to get degrees from as many Big Ten schools as possible :)
Workplace
I am happy to say that, after 5 and half years practicing law here in Chicago, I escaped the life of a lawyer and found a different career path! Since April 2007 I have been working at DePaul University College of Law as the Director of Alumni Relations. So far so good...
