Katie's Story
Life
I retired as principal of McKay Creek Elementary School in Pendleton in June of 07. My husband, Paul, retired as Director of Secondary Education and Personnel for Pendleton School District in June of 05. My son, James, is an architect in Tacoma, Washington. He and Caryn are the parents of my 3 grandsons. My son Scott lives in Spokane, Washington where he is a fisheries biologist. My youngest son, Kipp, just graduated from Carroll College, Montana where he played football for the Saints. They were the NAIA National Champions in 2002-2005, 2007 and played in the championship game in 2008. Quite an exciting run for all of us.

My older brother Patrick (LHS '60)passed away from a stroke in May 2000. Younger brother Brian (LHS '74) is an architect in Tacomaa and sister Jeanne (LHS '65) is a banker in Vancouver.
Workplace
I have spent my years since high school and college entirely in the world of education. I started in Hermiston as a third grade and then sixth grade teacher. After moving to Pendleton, I taught grades 4, 5, and 6. I was District Director of Talented and Gifted Programs and finally principal at McKay Creek Elementary. I retired to allow more time to travel to Montana every week in the fall to watch Kipp play football. For a break and relaxation, I like to go back home to LaGrande and work in the flower shop when I can.
