Katie's Story
Life
I've been living in Taiwan for the last three years, teaching English and starting my own tour company with 3 friends here. Life is pretty good-I am learning and using a new language (Chinese), I am traveling a lot (Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand...), and every day is different.
After I graduated from WSU with a degree in drama, I started working for a YMCA in Bellevue as a director of their summer camp and teen programs. During that time, I was also teaching drama around Seattle and doing staged readings with Seattle Public Theatre. After taking a YMCA ...Expand for more
group of families and junior high school students on a two-week educational tour of Costa Rica, where we were part of a research team protecting endangered sea turtles and had a chance to live with a Costa-Rican dairy-farm family, I got the travel bug. I ended up moving to Taiwan to teach English at a YMCA in the countryside, and fell in love.
Life is busy now, but that's nothing new. The only things I miss are my family and friends back home, Kraft Mac n' Cheese, and being able to walk into most any music store and find music as shocking as *gasp* Indigo Girls.
