Katy's Story
I am still living in Riverside. I am married and have 4 children, 2 grandchildren. We were expecting a new little granddaughter but have just had sad news and her momie has lost her. This has been very sad as we love babies and believe that they are a gift from God. She will be waiting for me in heaven when I get there. This just happened on June 4, 2008. Frank and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this year. I only have one child left home and she may never go anywhere if she sticks to her educational goal to be a child psychologist. This year is graduation and we all know how much we think we know at the end of high school and where we go from there. All of my adult life has included kids, mine and those of others, disabled and those not actually labeled as disabled unless adolescent hormones qualify as a disabling condition. We are going to be there to help her while she is pursuing this goal. I am actively involved in my church directing a program for girls that is very much like a Christian girl scout program and dong other things as needs arise. I work at a job I love doing, doing what I have done most of my adult life. That is caring for disabled children and adults in one way of another. Despite my dismal high school schoolastic record I loved every moment of and got excellent grades at La Verne University while getting a degree in early childhood special education. I still see some people I went to school with from time to time. I attend church every Sunday with my life time friend Becky Hull which you may remember. I never took typing and am a lousy typist. I tried to do the questions and answers and decided this site is intended for folks with far different tastes than mine. Most of the answers are ones I never would have pick...Expand for more
ed and there were no suitable choices. In my older, more conservative years my free time activities are not any part of this questionaire. Considering that I was not very well behaved in middle and high school I am now pretty conservative. My younger brother is still here in town although he has left the state and returned a time or two. You may remember him as well. His name is Tony Herder. They have four kids too and oddly enough, without planning it, all 8 of our kids first names start with J. And yes he and Valerie are still married. Since I am now an old lady (sorry if you think you aren't old you can go ahead and be in denial but I am old and work with enough young girls in thier twenties that I am not allowed to forget it. They forget that I am the supervisor and give me very little slack. They help keep me young at heart or make me old. I am not sure which one yet.) Anyway back to being old... I am now a quilter and we all know only old ladies quilt. Well they aren't your grandma's quilts but they are quilts so I will admit I am old. My goal here is just to see who is still around. I know about quite a few folks because I have never gone too far away. So now somebody out there who attended Van Buren, or Jurupa (before it was a middle school), or Nueva Vista, or Rubidoux or the University of La Verne, even some RCC Child development, psych or general ed requirements who think my name may be oddly familiar, let's hear from you. I am kind of looking forward to hearing from some other old folks. No more partying here. But that's ok I dont miss it. My life is very full wih my full time work, my church work,a hubby, and children, grandchildren and on and on. Who needs to party? Not I.
