Life I was born and raised in Snoqualmie, Washington. I have 2 brothers Leland and Ronald and a younger sister Sally. We grew up in a happy home and had a good Christian upbringing at Mt. Si Lutheran Church, North Bend, where we were confirmed. My father owned Red & White Grocery Store in Snoqualmie and my mother had a beauty shop in our home. When I was in the 3rd grade my father developed 32 acres where we lived on Johnson Heights. My mother had a beauty shop in our home. Growing up us kids had three steers to raise in pasture below our house. We would ride on their backs and have fun. We picked blackberries and collected and dried cascara bark to sell. I used to get up in very early morning hours of summer to catch in bus in Snoqualmie to ride to Koba strawberry fields all day to pick berries. I used to pick blueberries at Bybees Blueberry Farm. Then on other early morning hours John McLean and I used to walk the backroads to pick raspberries at Martinells Farm in Snoqualmie. During the day us kids played in the woods climbing the stumps of ancient trees and picking huckleberries off of them. Then we would climb vinemaple trees to top & swing them down by bouncing. We made forts in the woods and slept in them. We had a great time. As we got older my brothers would ride me on their motorcycles up to alpine lakes off Weyhauser roads and we would go swimming. It was a lot of fun. They even let me use their motorcycle to drive to friends. We were always busy. We played in the creeks that ran through the woods catching periwinkles and water skippers. I entered Mount Si High School 1962 and graduated 1966. I was an active member in Rainbow Girls, North Bend. For two summers I worked with Judy Kauzlarich at the high school office preparing books and getting them to proper classrooms to start the school year.
