Kay's Story
Life
Happily married to William John Axel II since March 22, 1980 and celebrated 29 years in March 2009 - it is hard to imagine that we have been together 33 years and married so long!
I spent many years traveling the world as a Tactical Services Manager for Autodesk, Inc, but made a major life change in August 2003. My step-son and his wife were no longer able to care for their two boys ages 3 and 5 so they came to live with usand my husband and I legally adopted them as our children on November 23, 2004. I am active in my local United Methodist Church serving in several capacities including Lay-Leader I loved my position in the corporate world and once the boys felt safe and secure in their new life with us and were thriving in school, I re-entered the workforce in the Technology Department of our local school district for a year. Then I was offered the opportunity as Execiutive Director for a HUD Senior and Family Housing Complex in Luna Pier, Michgiigan. My new posiiton has many, many challenges but is a wonderful opportunity for me to utilize my years of business experience as well as community work to make the difference to the 300+ people in my complex. Being a mom is the toughest challenge I have ever faced but also the most rewarding. I cannot remember what life was like before the boys came to live with us.

mily we spend a great deal of time traveling, camping in our 45 foot toy hauler fifth wheel (Not exactly roughing it!) and boating on the Great Lakes in our cabin cruiser. We travel quite a bit with our fifth wheel but also take at least four (4) airplane trips a year. Florida, California,Washington State, and Hawaii are our favorites! But nothing beats Michigan for coming home to!
When I get "alone time" I love to crank up the radio and put down the top on my red Pontiac hardtiop convertible! It was NOT a mid-life crises - I have had four (4) Pontiac convertibles in the last 20 years! Plus a couple of SUV's - which really are NOT my style! In the fall of 2008 my husband retired from an upper management position after 43 years with United Van Lines, and I bought him a new Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide motorcycle. He loves it and I am scared to death of it! He and the boys ride frequently - but not this girl! I will stick to the wind in my hair with my convertible!
Our family also includes New a yellow Labrador Puppy named Sophia, a Tabby kitty named Pickles, a fish named Flipper and once the boys get a bit older, and we buy some additional property, we may have horses. My husband was raised on a farm, quite different from my life in Flint, and is familiar with raising animals.
Life just keeps changing and getting better!
