Keely's Story
This is a shared site for Chris Carabin..1975 Colonel White graduate and Keely Karshner Carabin...1979 Groveport Madison graduate.
Yes, it's really me, Keely. A little fluffier than I was in 1979....but aren't we all. Chris however, slim and trim. As far as my red hair...my philosophy is when it starts going grey, you get to pick whatever color you want to be. I was blonde for 40 years...so decided to try red. My hubby loves it and that's what matters. Chris hasn't experienced the joys of grey hair yet...but as you'll see in the pix, he has tried some color...
Chris and I met Labor Day weekend in 1991. Married in November that same year. Yes, it was a whirlwind romance and most never gave it much of a chance. Celebrating 21 years of crazy, happy! !
I've been with Discover Card 27 years; Chris had been with a sign company for 25 years and was ready to do something else. Started his own business in 2000. "This Guy Paints". Pretty much explains what he does. Need any painting done?
We've lived at Lake Choctaw near London, Ohio for 20 years. Love living on the water. Nothing better than coming home after a stressful day, grabbing a bottle of wine, and heading out on the boat for an hour or so.
We've been blessed with 4 wonderful girls. Chris had 2 from his previous marriage and I had 2 when we met. They are now 28, 27, 26 and 21. The three oldest have completed college and we're happy to say, are productive tax paying citizens....and haven't moved home. Our youngest is starting her Sr. year at University of Dayton.
Our oldest daughter, Chelsea (Wright State grad '04 BA; Webster Univ '06 MBA Psychology; pursuing 2nd MBA Intelligence)has been married for 9 years. She and her husband, Tim gave us our first granddaughter, Kenna, November '07 and are expecting their second in Feb '13. Chels and Tim recently relocated to Stuttgart Germany for a 3 year assignment. Tim serves in the Army. He finished his third tour: 3 to Afganistan and 1 to Pakistan. He's recently became a Ranger. We're very proud of him.
Alex (Miami of Ohio grad '06 Sports Mgmt & Marketing) lives in Liberty Twnshp, OH with her husband, BJ, and our grandson, Tyler. Alex is an Events Planner for Paul Brown Stadium / Bengals. B.J. ,a U.C. grad, works for a third party proc...Expand for more
essor in Mason, Oh.
Ashton (University of Dayton grad '07 Finance) is an auditor for the Dept of Labor. Her assignments take her throughout Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. Her husband, Matthew, also a UD grad, was a consultant in Chicago, however recently accepted a job with Lexus Nexus. They live in the Ault Park area of Cincinnati.
21 year old Katie, is attending University of Dayton, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts - Visual and Graphics Communications. Quite the little artist with matching creativity in writing and computer skills. She just starting her Senior year. So much opportunity, so much energy, so many dreams....Do you remember those days? Where in the heck did they go?
We love reconnecting with old friends and acquaintenances from Edwards Elementary, CJ Brown, GMHS or Colonel White. Since Chris and I didn't go to high school together and didn't date each other until our 30's, it's fun looking at each others old yearbooks, to remind ourselves what you looked like back when and tell each other about who we dated, who we ran with, what we did and didn't get caught doing.
Anyone from GMHS recall the Taco Bell run's for Mr. Bigus and his 'special meetings?' The alligator that freely roamed Mr. Neff's biology lab? And for my fellow bando's, the 'boom-boom' and shaving cream battles at bandcamp, marching at Disney, the Hudson's Thanksgiving parade I think in Detroit...and running the last couple of blocks in formation so we could be 'televised'? We recently attended a wedding in the 'old' lodge at Camp Alegro. It's now called Crocket's Run. All the cabins are still there, the A frame, and both lodges. Was that a trip down memory lane.
Chris has fond memories of his band days too. Apparently he had a nickname...if someone would like to share that with me...and the reason behind it? I tease him that since his band camp was at a university and you stayed in dorm rooms, it was a luxery camp.
Would love to hear about your memories from GMHS or CWHS. Please share. Until we hear from you, good health, good friends, good life....cheers ! Track us down on Facebook too....we spend more time there than on classmates.
Remember...."today is a new day....not just another day." (from the song "NEW DAY" by Nate McDonough....check out his web site)
