Keith's Story
Life
My Kids
First, I have a 28 year old son named Nolan. He is living in Delaware (near his mother) and working in the IT profession. I also have a 31 year old stepdaughter, Clarissa. She and her husband now work and live in Colorado Springs, CO.
My Job
In December 2013, I retired from the State of Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services as a Child Support Enforcement Officer. I worked for the State of Louisiana for fifteen and a half years. As such, I am an Air Force retiree and a State of Louisiana retiree. I have to mention I met my wife, Linda, doing child support enforcement work. We've been married for the past fifteen and a half years. She also retired from the State of Louisiana.
As for the Air Force, I enlisted in February 1972 and became a personnel specialist. I was stationed in England and North Carolina. I separated in August 1975 to start my full time academic studies at Rutgers University, in New Brunswick. I graduated with a degree in Art in May 1979. In 1980, I joined the Air Force again - this time as an officer. After aviator training, I was chosen to be a electronic warfare officer in a B-52. I then worked in B-52 operations plans, particularly in Guam in the late '80s. I also did career broadening in working in Air Force intelligence ('89 - '92) and national intelligence in Washington DC. ('92 - '9...Expand for more
5) I retired from the Air Force as a Major in June 1997 at Barksdale AFB in the Shreveport / Bossier City area of Louisiana. Since I was also stationed three times in Texas - in Abilene, Fort Worth and Austin - I liked this part of the country.
My father died about a month ago at the age 93. Linda and I traveled up to NJ before he died, so we had a chance to talk to my father - somewhat. The weekend before the funeral, Linda, my son, Nolan, and I went to Woodbridge to eat at The Reo Diner, It was good, but not great. We drove around my hometown. I didn't recognize a lot of it. But, as my late father once 'Nothing stays the same'. (I sometimes go The Independent Leader web site to reminisce of how Woodbridge was.)
Linda and I are members of First Methodist Church in Shreveport. It is part of the Global Methodist Church. I sing in their Chancel Choir (as a tenor) and in senior ensemble that go to nursing homes. It's an interesting note that Linda and I were both raised Catholic. (I got my first holy communion and confirmation at the old St. James Church in Woodbridge.)
As for Middlesex County, even the New Brunswick of my Rutgers' days from '75 to '79 isn't really there anymore. And the Rutgers Piscataway campus changed too with the extension of Route 18. Again, progress.
I hope you enjoy my update.
