School Graduated Hoover 1967 San Diego Mesa College 1967-69 transferred to SDSU San Diego State University 1971 B.A. History Cal Stat University Northridge 1974 M.A, History (Teaching Credential Community College) Career Got my MA History CSUN in 74 and a Community College Credential and figured I would go out and teach (inspired by Doug Smallheer US History teacher at Mesa College) ,however,economic down turn and they were laying off PHDs so no jobs at the time. I took a temporary ( I thought) detour to work for the state doing disability evaluations under a contract with the Social Security Administration. Seven years later and then a Unit Manager with a collateral assignment to be part of the Department of Social Services emergency response and recovery team I transferred In 1982 to the Governors Office of Emergency Services( moved from misery on the individual scale to the apocalyptic) and did emergency response recovery ,planning,training and preparedness full time ending up as Deputy Regional Administrator Operations for the Southern Region in 2006. In June of 2006 jumped ship ( better money) from the state and went to work for the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management where for the last 5 years I have been Assistant Administrator,Operations. Now after 30 plus years in emergency management responding to 30 Presidentially Declared disasters and even more state and local emergencies I guess I made it a career.
