Vernon Keith's Story
Education:
Graduated from CSU (BS, 1974); CSU-Pueblo (BSBA, 1976); Greek Language Diploma (Defense Language Institute, 1984); Univ VA (MBA, 1988); Naval War College (MA, 1993) and a PhD from the School of HARD KNOCKS. I am also certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Career:
Retired from the US Navy as a Commander in 1998 after 21 years active duty, living in Raleigh NC area since 2019. We were fortunate to have lived in Greece, Hawaii, California, Nevada, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Georgia in addition to spending too much time in Saudi Arabia and at the Pentagon in Wash DC.
After leaving the Navy, I then tried my hand working in project management for IT systems. I tried to semi-retire in 2007 as Asst Vice President for Program Management with Science Applications International in Colorado Springs but became bored and came back full time to work at Boecore, Inc., as Director of IT and Infrastructure. 2016 I again decided to semi-retire, working on special projects and business development opportunities. I retired for good in 2017 but then started substitute teaching K-12 in 2022...what a trip!
In recent years my wife and I have started to empty the bucket list by exploring Albania, Australia, the Amazon River basin in Ecuador, Albania, Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Brazil Cambodia, Chile, China, Dominican Republic, Easter Island, Egypt, El Salvador, England, Fiji, Germany, the Galapagos Islands, Holland, Honduras, Israel, India, Italy, Jordan, Laos, Macedonia, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Tanzania, Thailand, Tibet, Turkey, and Vietnam
Married to Sharolyn (Frye) from Del Norte CO since 1974; two sons (both proud graduates of CSU-Ft Collins) and three grandsons / one granddaughter.
Hobbies: Experiencing different cultures, woodworking, motorcycle touring, and RVing
