Keitha Lindsey:  

After finishing Roosevelt in 1962, I entered Howard University, and remained there until marrying Bill Lindsey in 1964. I had two boys, Lance and Keith-Sean, while working at the Dept. of Health, Education, and Welfare. I returned to D.C. Teacher's College and graduated in Elementary Education in 1971, and began teaching in the D.C. Public Schools. I received my M.Ed in teaching Reading, from Indiana University in 1974, and returned to teach,in D.C., retiring in 2003 from the system.. I lost my younger son, Keith-Sean, in 1989, at age 21, a year after he graduated from Providence College. He had a massive heart attack after playing a game of basketball. This continues to be devastating for our family. I am still teaching part-time at Paul Public Charter School, in D.C. Not only do I enjoy it, but more importantly, I am raising my lovely granddaughter, Ashley, and she has two more years in a private school.(enough said) She has been a true blessing to me, and watching her develop into an enthusiastic and intelligent young lady defies the constant myth about teen girls that currently prevails. My hope is that when I finally "come home," I will be able to assist other young girls in reaching their goals, and write a book about 40 plus years of teaching.
