Kelly's Story

My Story By Kelly Gaynor Copper When I was a young girl, my dream was to grow up and become "madly in love" and "very Rich"! Now, after being divorced, a single mother of two children and living off of a school teacher's salary...it's obvious it didn't happen. Through life's many trials, tribulations and experiences, I found that your Dream's delays are not necessarily denials and if you have life in your Dream as well as your faith...Your Dream is not dead until you are. Sometimes life may alter your Dream, but it can never destroy it: only you can do that. Many times, life's journey may make 'pit-stops' that not only alter your Dream, but ultimately creates your Destiny. My first High School crush never gave me the time of day. I'm glad about that because later in life,I found that he wasn't doing anything special anyway. The second crush was even worse, I heard he ended up in jail! The third High School crush became my High School Sweetheart. Although our life paths went in different directions, I always wished him the best in life because he was a good person, treated me with respect and love and left me with happy memories of my High School years. My fondest memories of High School were hanging out with Gina, the High School Dances on Friday nights,Show Mobiles at Lakeview Park, Parties at the Fish Market next to Parkside,Malverne High School Musicals and Sports Night. The two teachers that I would love to see again are Mr Zacaro, my Social Studies Teacher and Mr Winzenreid, my English Teacher. I would like to tell them how much they inspired me and how thankful I am for how much they really taught me. They really showed me the difference between people who teach and people who love teaching. They helped me become the kind of teacher I am today. Not only am I a Social Studies Teacher like Mr. Zacaro, but my love for Reading and Writing was truly enhanced by my Teacher Mr. Winzenreid. Although I love being a Teacher, I also have many Entrepreneurial aspirations I have yet to accomplish. I also have one more degree to complete and hopefully by 2012, I will have completed my PhD. Sometimes I ask myself, "Why do you keep getting degrees, and starting new projects and writ...Expand for more
ing poetry"? I guess the reason is that I'm a firm believer that you never stop learning and life is a continuous learning process. I guess its only fitting to continue educating myself and continue creating new ways to generate wealth and knowledge and ways to express it. I even learn from my children. The most important thing I learn from my children is unconditional love. No matter what curve balls life may throw, I can always depend on that "Supernatural Love" that only a child can give a Mother. That has been a sustaining Blessing in my life. It gives me what is necessary to keep going, to live life to the fullest and to make sure that when my journey ends; that me and my life made a difference in someone else's. If I won 100 million dollars, I'd probably donate most of it. First, ten percent would be tithed to my church and most would be given to charities and people I felt strongly in my heart; that their lives could be changed for the better with it. I would put aside some to secure my two son's futures; and then spend some on myself and invest the rest. 10 years from now, I hope that I would have accomplished most things I've dreamed of doing and invested wisely enough so that the things I was doing in life at that time, were things that I enjoyed doing... and not things that I had to do. If I had one "Do-Over" in life, I would probably learn more about how to handle finances at a much earlier age and that's about it. I wouldn't want to change anything because all of my experiences, both good and bad, helped make me who I am today. To be truly happy today, I would be sharing my life with positive family and friends, stress-free, filled with joy and happiness everyday. After reflecting over my life, I realize it hasn't been so bad. From the time I was a child, my Dream was to be "Madly in Love" and "Very Rich"...Well one day I might meet someone and fall "Madly in Love" and as for being "Very Rich", that's also possible too. However, the most important aspects of my life are my children, my positive family and my positive friends. For them, I'm "Madly in Love"! As for "Rich", the lyric from a favorite song of mine sums that up too..."The Best things in Life are Free". The End
