Kelly's Story
Life
I am currently living in Europe working as a defense contractor. I am an Information Assurance Professional for the Department of Defense. I live in Mannheim Germany and I like to travel as much as I can. Europe is fantastic!
I spent last year (2004) in Kuwait and Iraq deployed with an Army unit as their civilian Information Assurance Manager. That was the opportunity of a lifetime and my favorite job up to this point in my life. During that time, I traveled the middle east while working to support our warfighters' information technology needs - some of the places I worked this past year were in Bahrain, Baghdad, Basra, and Kuwait. The highlight for me was "catching a ride" to these places in Iraq from Kuwait on a Blackhawk helicopter. I also had the opportunity to make new friends with our coalition "brothers and sisters" - such as the Czechs, Polish, Italians, Brits and Aussies. After high school, I joined the Air Force for an adventure and to get my bachelor's degree. I earned that in 1994 and I have since completed my first master's degrees - an MBA and I am one class away from my second master's degree - a Master's of Science in Information Assurance. I graduate in December this year. I've been working in Information Systems since I left the Air Force in 1994. I lived mostly in North and South Carolina until I moved to Europe in 2003.
Now my spare time is spent traveling Europe and learning foreign languages - I've got a working knowledge of German, Italian, French and Czech languages. I'm not fluent in any of these language - it is just a fun hobby. My new favorite vacation spot is in Belgium on the North Sea or kicking around somewhere in the Tuscan area of Italy.
I've been married a couple of times, but I'm currently single and very happy. I have two beautiful children (boys) and they currently reside with their dad in the States.
