Kelvin's Story

Hi. I attended William Burgess School (Grades 5 & 6) and also Westwood Junior High (Grade 7) back in the late 1960's. I am British and my family emigrated to Canada in Sept. 1966. I have a brother and 2 sisters. Starting a new school is daunting enough but when it is in another country, then it is even more so. It was difficult, at first, to integrate and make new friends but a few of my classmates became good friends. I wish I had the confidence back then to make more friends. We stayed in Canada for 3 years but my father was struggling to afford the cost of living in Toronto so he made the bold decision to take us back home to England in June 1969. Many of my classmates in Grade 7 signed my Year Book, wishing me good luck on returning to England. I still have that Year Book, today. It brings back many fond memories. NOW, I am 57 years old and should feel old - but I don't - I have never smoked and I very rarely drink alcohol. I am still fit and strong and certainly don't look my age. I even went jogging today. I weigh about 230 pounds, but I am 6ft tall and of strong build. I used to play competitive badminton and have won 4 trophies over the years. I also trained in Karate for a couple of years back in the 80's. I still play badminton today, but for the enjoyment and I also keep fit by jogging. Work-wise - I have spent many years working in Production Control within manufacturing environments, for several different companies. Industries include: Refrigeration - Electronic Instrumentation - Plastics. I was once responsible for planning the p...Expand for more
roduction for a large factory - on my own! I also spent 8 years in Digital Mapping - converting large scale Ordnance Survey maps to digital format. Ordnance Survey are a UK Government Department responsible for officially mapping the entire UK and started this endeavour back in the year 1750. It was a great job. Unfortunately, with the UK economy in a right state, I am currently unemployed. Although, I did recently work for Amazon, for about 11 weeks, helping them with their run-up to Christmas 2012. Quite enjoyable, although I was walking about 20,000 steps per day, walking around their vast Fulfillment Centre. I am still single to this day - I've never married and don't have any children, which at my age is very sad. It sometimes makes me sad and reflective on what might have been. I haven't given up yet, though. I am interested in Space Sciences, Human Sciences, especially Human Intelligence and Behaviour. I am interested in UNDERSTANDING the real world and how it works (and why Human Society doesn't). I was influenced by Carl Sagan and his series COSMOS which was aired on British TV in the early 1980's. I have a logical and mathematical mind and brilliant problem solving skills. I know what you are thinking - "that's probably why you're not married" - you're probably right. I am a Humanitarian, an Egalitarian, A-religious and A-political. I answer to no-one and am not easily influenced. I therefore consider my life to be a success. I have no regrets. A fond Hello to anyone who remembers me. r s k e l v Thank you for reading my profile.
