Ken's Story
I've friends who attended Wooster and Sparks, so I've signed up on those lists, too.
I've mucked around through jobs of various kinds, and relationships of dubious merit for a time, in Reno...but after turning 30 and being married the second time (the first only lasted 8 months) and staying in Reno for 5 years, we packed it up and headed for the San Francisco area (Alameda, Pleasant Hill, Concord). I worked in photography there, and we brought a couple daughters into the world...started doing the stay-at-home Dad thing...and after spending 15 years around SF, packed it all up and moved to the Seattle area, where I now do art glass work (focusing mainly on stained glass and fused glass), and jewelry making. I work out of my barn and teach in various places (e.g. Glass Expressions in Burien). I have a woodsy 5 acre place with a salmon stream between Woodinville and Duvall, and my daughters are growing tall and strong. Talia is 18 and off to college, and Jenna is 16 and driving...and three of our four cats (Hottie, Beast and Oddball) are 10. Gibson cat just died at age 13 in November. My Mom passed away a year ago, and I inherited her Great Dane, Angel, and her Yorkie, Dazie. Yes...I still play and teach guitar. Just bought a cello, a sax, and some harmonicas. We've been doing a garage band now called Curb Appeal for about 6 ...Expand for more
years...our drummer, Rich who I'd played alongside in Concord for 8 years, just moved up and joined us a year ago and we added a keyboardist/singer named Micki about a year ago, and her friend Dora has just joined us, too. While he hasn't joined the band, another old friend from Reno and the Bay Area moved up a year ago...Mark Gloster, who initially introduced me to my wife, and whose older brother, Vance, taught me barre chords, and played in a short-lived band along with me, once.
I would've liked to check up on classmates during the 30th reunion, but it wasn't worth the hassle and trip for just one evening of get-together. Everybody got older than me, anyhow, and a lot of them became Bible-thumpers, which I can accept, and I love them dearly as friends, but can only handle listening to their testimony and exhortations for a limited amount of time. ;) I'd love to hear from anyone about the get-together. Maybe you could share any photos you took? Over the last year and a few months I've been spending a lot of time in Reno helping my Mom though her chemo therapy, and now wrapping up her estate. Hopefully that'll be worked out soon, and I'll be back to spending the majority of my time at home, in Washington. My personal website is at the ansilatoms domain, my glasswork is at glassbyken and the band site is at wearecurbappeal.
