Ken's Story
I guess it's time to update my life story. To recap, I finished at RY, & went to Lakehead U taking forestry. Worked for 4 summers fighting forest fires for the MNR, then due to slow employment prospects, returned to school taking Stationary Engineering at Confederation College also in Thunder Bay. ( Stat Eng? think of Homer Simpson only at a paper mill instead of a Nuc ). Worked there for 33 yrs and then entered blissful retirement in June ' 11. Still married to Rosmarie and have 2 grown married children with one living in the Guelph area & the other in the Okanagan Valley in BC . Still no grand kids yet which is entirely our fault as we never told them the facts of life. We get down to Toronto occasionally either to see family or for connecting flights. Either way it makes me appreciate living in Northern Ont that much more.
I keep busy by catching up on a back log of 33 yrs worth of odd jobs around the house, trying to keep the deer from eating our garden and doing the occasional preaching at several churches in the area. When I am preaching I feel th...Expand for more
e most alive. I have also started to try to go for a morning walk several times a week. My route is 4.8 miles and has stops at Tim Horton & Hillcrest Park ( over looks Thunder Bay Harbour & the Sleeping Giant).
It will be interesting to see what God has planned for me in this next phase of my life. Rose has mentioned us taking some Bible courses either on line or at a Bible College but memories of going to class and not having my homework done while at RY may be having a negative influence on this idea. I have also given up the idea to do any more sky diving. After doing 3 solo jumps when I turned 50 and remaining un broken, seemed like a good time to quit. Plus the Bible says not to tempt the Lord your God ( should I help Ken or should I not? What to do?). I must have my angel watching over me when we went Sea Treking at St Thomas ( walking 20 ft under water with an air supplied helmet. Great experience).
How about you? Where has life taken you since Royal York? Send an email as I would be interested in hearing from you. God bless you.
