Ken's Story
Life
Picture is me about 100 lbs ago!! :)
Graduated Fitchburg State College 1990 in Marketing and Economics. Moved to Palm Springs, California in 1994, eventually became sales operations manager for 4 TV station group there (ABC,FOX,WB,Telemundo). Joined LDS Church (Mormons) 1997. Married 1998, no kids, Divorced 2000. Moved back east to Providence to work for NBC for a year...now back in Palm Springs at the stations as director of programming and traffic operations!!
Got married in June 2003. Annette and I met over the internet, and then finally in person summer 2002 in Atlanta. We now live in Redlands, CA...30 minutes west of Palm Springs, 1 hour east of Los Angeles, 2 hours north of San Diego and 3 hours south of Las Vegas...we are right in the middle of everything and we love it!
School
Yeah, I was a bit of a dork in high school...but considering how dorks have done with the internet boom, I now consider my early dorkiness to be an asset, ...Expand for more
not a liability!
Seriously, it is interesting hearing from people who had thought of me as nothing more than a walking joke, now acknowledge that they have grown up and realized how wrong they were. I feel rather vindicated.
College
I enjoyed college much more than I did high school. I came out of my shell, and learned to interact with people better. I will always treasure my years at Fitchburg.
Workplace
During college, I started working part-time at WERZ/WMYF in Portsmouth. That turned into a full-time gig after I graduated. The recession of 1991-92 hit the station hard, so I had to go to part-time status. I then joined the Blockbuster Video in Monument Square as an assistant manager, but moved to California in 1994 to try my luck there. Aside from a one-year break, I will have been with my current employer 14 years now...and currently a senior executive at a fast growing broadcast company billing millions of dollars a year. Life is good!
