Ken's Story
Life
I really can't believe it's been so many years since those school days, time has sure flied. It seems only yesterday we were all meeting up in the courtyard, mulling about our daily routines.
I left school about the same time it left me and had a bumpy start in my first few years in the real world. I was out and on my own at twenty and shared a house with four dudes in Glenbrook. Those Deleo days were memorable and had some good times, all in all. It was in this house that I got Tucker, my first Labrador, and she's was with me up until this past Thanksgiving. I still miss her terribly, we had such great times, she was always up for a good hike.
About ten years ago, I met my wife, and after a nice courtship and my beginning sobriety, we married a few years after. She encouraged me to start my own business, and with some help from her father, I got a loan from the bank and got things off the ground. The first few years were very hard, but things have improved in the last few years and each year seems to get better.
Tuck always kept me an avid hiker, and I've done many trails in the Northeast. Me and Deborah, my wife, bought a camper a few years back, and have got good use out of it in NH, VT, ME, NY, PA, and even once to NC...
A few years after I sobered up(it's been nine years now), I started rock climbing and a friend ...Expand for more
and I started doing some mountaineering. I've done some climbing in the Gunk's in NY and a few trips to the beautiful sandstone in Red Rocks, NV. I've visited Yosemite, it is unbelievable and everyone should go see it once in their lifetime, but was not climbing at that time. I've had many successful winter assents of Mt.Washington,NH one on Mt.Marcy, NY, and been on Mt. Rainier, WA, twice and summited once. Next climb is in Hawaii in August and should be a blast.
Deb and I bought a house in Norwalk a few years ago and spent a lot of time bringing it up to date, (remodeling is a dirty word). Have many more things in store and a new hiking buddy, Molly(choc. lab). I wonder sometimes what happened to all of you I spent time with in those school days. I am still here if anyone wants to contact me....Ken
Workplace
After many years(15) of working for others and blessed free-time, seven years ago I founded Indian River Tree Service. Progress has been slow but steady and I enjoy more financial success than I've ever had, and do enjoy running the circus. It does take up more of my time than the worker side of things, but I get to learn more about the business end of things, and I don't have to strain myself as much as I used to. I have become a licensed Arborist, and have a great clientele, which only gets better with each year.
