Ken's Story
Life
After graduation, I attended Meridian Junior College and graduated in 1983. Spent a year on the road with Up With People, traveled all over the US, Canada, Belgium, Luxenbourg, Germany, Italy, and France, singing and dancing, living in host families, etc.
Graduated in 1987 from Oral Roberts University with a degree in Music Education. Spent a few years teaching music in Tulsa, Oklahoma, then moved to Orlando, where I traveled with a group called The Spurrlows and then sang back-up for contemporary Christian artist, Larnelle Harris.
In 1992, I was hired by Walt Disney World as a singer with the Voices of Liberty at Epcot. Spent four years there before being named a Walt Disney World Ambassador in 1997. Traveled the country representing WDW at special events, radio and tv interviews, community functions, serving as spokesperson of the 57,000 Cast Members of WDW.
Since then I have worked as the Training Manager for Walt Disney Entertainment and now am the Auditions Manager for Talent Casting and Booking, planning the strategy and execution of more than 300 auditions each year for Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland and the Disney Cruise Line. In my time off, I worked at a Methodist church as t...Expand for more
he Associate Director of Music Ministries. I opened the American Idol Experience as a Producer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. My final eight years with Disney were spent with Disney Institute where I helped non-Disney companies get better at Leadership effectiveness, corporate culture, employee engagement, and customer service. This work took me all over the USA, Canada, Europe, the UK, South Africa, Zambia, and Singapore. I retired from Disney in 2018.
In 2006, I started the Executive MBA program at Rollins College Crummer School of Business and graduated with an MBA in Management and Entrepreneurship in May, 2008.
The reason I retired from Disney is because I was recruited to join Toll Brothers, America’s Luxury Home Builder, as Managing Director of Culture and Brand Awareness. In a nutshell, I work to make the customer and employee experience better, and ensure all the company is focused on living our values and being the best home builder in the country.
I split my time between traveling around the country (we operate in 20 states and 50 locations), our office in Pennsylvania and home in Jacksonville, Florida.
I’m still active in the Methodist church and sing around the country whenever the right gig comes along.
