Kendall's Story
Nineteen-sixty-eight found me in Casper, working at an oil field fabrication company and going to school part time at Casper College. I met Pat and got married in '69'. Pat is from Casper. Our daughter was born in late '69'. In 1970, Pat and I went to Laramie with daughter in tow. Pat graduated, with honors in Nursing and I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
After school, we ended up in Houston, where we still live. In 1973 our son was born. He's married and has three daughters. A picture of any of them will bring a smile to their grandmother's face. I worked for Reed Tool Co. for nine years, mostly as an engineering manager. It started my travels. I have been in forty seven states and twenty-eight countries. I traveled to China four times, and northern Canada three times last year (I'm getting tired of all the travel.) While I was with Reed, we lived in southern Indiana for two years. Southern Indiana is a great place to live and raise kids. Sorry we only live there two years.
In the early '80's', I moved to FMC corp. I was with FMC 19 years as an engineering manager and later as the World Wide Quality Improvement Manager. Pat worked as the Head Nurse for a large emergence room. Our kids were involved swimming and tennis. In 1989 I had the opportunity to be the temporary Engineering Manager in Scotland. I was there for seven month and we fell in love with Scotland. We spend a month exploring Scotland at the end of my work and wished we could stay.
Since 1999, I've changed jobs several times. (Once you reach 55, you are expendable) I have stay in oil field equipment and plan to continue to work for another 2 or 3 years. Pat's health is not too good and health insurance is an issue. I am currently the Engineering Manager for a smaller wellhead equipment supplier.
I'll fill in some of the gaps and add some 'war'...Expand for more

Well I finally got around to updating my profile. I changed jobs a couple time more (follow the money). I finally retired last summer. I’m 71 and spent 50 years working in the oil field. The last few years I’ve worked as senior development engineer. But at 71 and with health issues for both myself and my wife, it was time to retire. I’ve had enough fun.
As I said earlier, we have three granddaughters and they are the joy of our lives. They are 11, 12, and 15. I have posted pictures. We are very proud of them.
When you get to our age, health seems to become the focus of our time and energy. My wife, Pat (Casper ‘66’) broke her femur in serval places last summer. She had two surgeries to get that corrected. Now she is getting ready to have her left knee replaced. (Her right knee was replaced in 2000). She will need to have the right knee re-done next year. She has macular degeneration and can not drive. So we have had and will have many doctor’s visits.
I have been playing my own doctor roulette. I am remission from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Before we discovered the lymphoma, I was in and out of the hospital three times for blood transfusions and tests (lots of tests). From what I know, lymphoma is not some thing that you get over. It just goes into remission for a while. So, I go for my PET scan every 6 months and keep my fingers crossed. I also been blessed with skin cancer. Mostly basal cells but one melanoma. My dermatologist caught it early. It was removed and (we hope) no more issues. I think the skin cancer is a result of growing up in Wyoming. Well maybe not, but it makes you wonder.
The bottom line is a week without one or two doctor appointments is rare thing. I’m hoping we get ahead of the curve this spring and get to play some golf and maybe a little travel.
I’ll try to add some more soon.
