Kenneth's Story
Life
Dawn (Martin) and I will be celebrating our fifteenth anniversary July, 2006. We married between the third and fourth years of medical school (EMORY) and moved to Durham, NC for residency (DUKE). Although we had a good time, after three years we wanted more time for each other and left DUKE for WASHINGTON UNIV SCHOOL OF MEDICINE for cardiology fellowship. We were in St. Louis for five years (yes, I was a PGY-8). We were involved in a wonderful community of young couples and really considered ourselves home. I completed a research and clinical cardiology fellowship then did an additional year as a heart failure and cardiac transplant fellow. Our family started to grow -- Jacob was born August 1998. ce and move closer to home -- to MOBILE, ALABAMA. I am in a large cardiology practice (Cardiology Associates) with more than 25 cardilologists offering general non-invasive, interventional, electrophysiology, lipid and pediatric specialists. I am the director of our center for comprehensive heart failure / cardiomyopathy care. We actively participate in clinical research and I work with a wonderful staff caring for over 2500 patients with heart failure. Since coming to Mobile, Dawn no longer works as a chemical engineer. She has traded her calculator and reference guides for microwave and "What to do when ... you're expecting ... raising your baby ... your todler ... etc." We have three full of life boys - Jacob, Jared (born May, 2001), and Joshua (born February, 2003). Just when we thought we were finished, Lydia came along July, 2005. She is a wonderful touch of pink -- now our "quiver is full" -- it's acutally running over!
