Kenneth's Story
Life
Calvert is credited
with the cover painting for the Missouri Historical Society publication, "Discovering
African American St. Louis", the theme paintings for Gitana Productions annual "Faces of
Love" Concerts and the theme painting for the Mound City Bar Association's 75th
anniversary celebration. Calvert has also completed murals for the Missouri African
American Arts initiative, and the St. Louis, City Hall.
He was the 1997 recipient of the "Romare Bearden Award" for artistic contributions to
the St. Louis community and his "Cultural Connections" exhibiton opened ...Expand for more
at the Beach
Institute and Savannah State University in Savannah Georgia, in 1998. CalvertÂs works
were featured at the Vaughn Cultural Center in 1999. Calverts painting of Ndumba Tembo, one of the last great Tchokwe leaders, is the 2002 addition to the Anheuser Busch "Great Kings and Queens of Africa" series.
