Marcy's Story
Life
My Pet
Az.I love animals and had 3 dogs, Askhim, Molly and Storm. Sadly, Molly had to be helped over the Rainbow Bridge April 1, 2019(she was 13). Askhim had to be helped over the Rainbow Bridge Jan 16, 2020 he was around 15 or 16). And now, my Storm is not doing well at age 13. I don't know what I'm gonna do when she is gone too. Jan. 1, 2024 still no fur baby after losing my three babies.
My Kids
He's special and wonderful AND he LOVES his Mom. I'm very proud of him. He is respectful, not on drugs and hasn't gotten into any trouble. He's raced Mountain Bikes, done some modeling and acting, is working at a private golf community as a bartender and server (22 years). He continues to basically be a night owl but is very dependable when it comes to his job and responsibilities. He IS the pride of my life! He and his wife are doing well but they both work too much. No children for them yet and no grand babies for me yet. They are still in the house they bought. Unfortunately our sweet Bella Rose, their dog had to be euthanized in 2016 because she had Tick Fever and the medications just didn't help her fight off the infection. She was adorable and was my Grand dog. I miss her very much.. Bella reminded me of Emmett Kelly. She looks like she has such a sad face (because of her eyebrows.).
My son and daughter in law got a new puppy. She's black with a bit of white on her chest. Her name is Maggie. She is 1/2 Golden Retriever and 1/2 German Shepherd (Hmmm, I wonder being she's black). She is about 4 - 41/2 months old now.
My Job
Was stressful alot of the time but fulfilling. I am a Registered Nurse. I went to Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens. Graduated in 1976. Worked through school as a Nursing Assistant, then LPN. I retired from the VA Medical Center in Phoenix May 31, 2016 after 29 years.. Had been there since 1987. .
Life
I now live in Tonto Basin, Az full time.after I retired. We dream of moving to Hawaii someday, but that's all it is, just a dream, as we will never be able to afford it. I lived there in the late 70's and worked as an RN in the ER at the Kapiolani Children's Hospital. Have lived in Arizona since 1985. It's hot in the Summer but wonderful in the Winter. Not alone any more. I met a wonderful man in May 2012 and got married June 1, 2013. We will be celebrating our 11th Anniversary June 1, 2023. We own a...Expand for more
house in Tonto Basin, Az (Roosevelt Lake). Sean (my son) and Teresa, his wife get together with us as often as possible as they live in Phoenix. All of our lives have very busy schedules.
I married a local, native born Arizonian so Az is where I'll be. Unless we actually do end up moving to Hawaii or some place else. We vacationed in Hawaii every year except for 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to the Corona 19 pandemic. He doesn't care to go to Hawaii anymore so any future trips will be me solo. (I lived there in the mid-70's, Oahu and Hilo,) A great long time friend is from Hawaii and retired from the VA and moved home. We spend a lot of time with him, and now stay at his house instead of a hotel or efficiency apartment. We also spend as much time as possible with my great friend Bea whom I had moved there with back in the 70's. She is still there and happily married. She has now also retired from Nursing..
This past Feb, 2021 we went to Key West, also because of the pandemic and Hawaii not being open at the time we would have gone. Had alot of fun in Key West. 2022 we went to Ireland. That was a most memorable trip. We enjoyed it very much. We also went to Maine to my brothers in July.
I did go to Hawaii this year (2024) by myself and had a good time with my friend from the VA and my best friend Bea.
My brother Jeff lives in Maine and I go there at least once a year to see him. He also comes here. My brother Kenn is still in NY and does not keep in touch with myself or Jeff.
I belong to the Elks. Am no longer real active with volunteering with them because activities are generally on the weekends and we're now living in Tonto Basin. I belong to the American Legion Pat Tillman Post 117 in Phoenix and stop by there whenever I can..I started the ball rolling with getting a VFW Auxillary started here in Tonto Basin. We received out Charter 2 years ago. I am also a Board Member for the Tonto Basin Chamber of Commerce. My husband is an Electrician and back in 2015 or 2016, we bought the Electrical company that he had worked for.
After I retired I had L4 - L5 back surgery. After that, I've had bilateral partial knee replacements and a left reverse shoulder replacement. In 2000 I had a right shoulder rotator cuff repair
.
Well, life goes on. I plan on living my life to the fullest.
