Kenneth's Story
Kenneth is from Pell Lake, Wisconsin. His schools include Happy Valley High School, North Side Elementary School, North Johnson City Junior High School, Henry Johnson Elementary School. He later graduated from Gateway Technical College (Accounting/Computer Programming). He worked at Gateway Technical College, US Navy Retired. I was actually the first graduate of the class of 1960. After my 2nd year of high school I decided to join the Navy. I passed all the tests and off to the Navy I went in June of 1958. After boot camp I was stationed at Great Lakes Il. awaiting to go to Radarman A School while waiting I took the GED for high school. Passed with very high scores. Returned home for Christmas while there went to see Mr Lewis to get my Diploma. He informed me at that time Tennessee law you had to be 21 years old since I was 17 come in back 4 years and he would give me my Diploma So actually I was the first graduate of the class of ...Expand for more
1960 in 1958. This past week the 29th of Sept. 2019, I was visiting my brother Larry, He said that Happy Valley was having a Veteran's Ceremony would I go.. When I arrived the ceremony was for me, at long last I received my Diploma. I can now say that I received a college degree before a high school diploma. Many thanks to all the faculty and support staff at Happy Valley High School. I would especially thank my brother Larry who made the day possible.
Kenneth's interests include Golf, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, None. Music he likes includes Peter, Paul and Mary. Movies he likes include We Were Soldiers, We Were Soldiers. TV shows he likes include CSI Las Vegas, NCIS, The Mentalist.
Two of Kenneth's favorite quotes is:"YOU HAVE NEVER LIVED TIL YOU'VE ALMOST DIED FOR THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR IT LIFE HAS A FLAVOR THE PROTECTED WILL NEVER KNOW", It is not I can and others cannot. It is that I did and others did not.
