Life I spent 11 years in the USAF as a law enforcment specialist/supervisor before leaving and staying out here in big WYO. Permanent assignments were in MD, Korea, and WY. I enjoyed the USAF but found things like promotions and assignments getting increasingly tough to get. So, I took a contract buyout and came to Rock Springs, WY to be a police officer. Interstingly, shortly after I left the USAF is when the "brush wars" started, (Iraq, Afghanistan) so retention in the USAF dropped from 55% when I left to around 30%; needless to say, things like assignments and promotions got pretty easy to find then. I married in the USAF and had two children. The marriage ended in divorce (the same time I lfet the USAF) and my children moved to Kentucky with their mother. They've given me two grandchildren, so far; visits with them are far too rare. Experience in the USAF...good. Glad to have done it and had the opportunity to serve this country but I didn't want to wait and see if things were going to change. Came to Rock Springs, WY after the USAF as there didn't appear to be much opportunity back in RI. Initially, I wondered if this was where above ground nuclear testing had taken place back in the 50's. Over the past 25 years or so I've learned to appreciate the "High Plains" of southern WY and our smaller communities. And while the open spaces can present challenges for travel, I've learned to appreciate those open spaces we have in abundance as places to grow. But, I do miss the ocean. My Spouse I met my spouse here in Wyoming. I was assigned to prepare a background for a case going to trial. One of the people I was tasked with interviewing was who ended up becoming my wife.
