Kennith's Story

Life I was born, January 14, in Checotah, OK. Lived around that area for a little while, until my parents moved to the Midwest City area. Lived in Midwest City/Del City area as a child and attended the Mid-Del school system as a child. Graduated Del City High School, in May 1968. I attended, Draughon's School of Business, after high school, until November 1969. I enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) at that time. I got married in April 1970, to a girl, I met in the sixth grade. We had three children while I was in the military and traveled some together, and spent some time apart, due to some of the assignments I had. When, I separated from the USAF, we moved back to OK, and live, in the house, I lived and grew up in as a child. I've been married to the same woman now for almost thirty-four years, and, we have six grandkids, at the present. Hopefully, we'll have at least two more grandkids by our youngest daughter and her husband, when they decide to start their family. Until, then, we'll enjoy the ones we have now. I joined the Masons, in 1988, and enjoy it very much. It's the oldest organization in the world as far as I know. I belong to the Scottish Rite of Mason, also, and have a perpetual membership in both the blue lodge and Scottish Rite. August, 2001, I had a heart attack and had to have a stint put in an artery that was blocked, and have had no other problems since then. I'm very thankful to still be here today. Thanks to my mother and wife, who rushed me to the hospital. I enjoy being around family and friends, and like working on my family tree. I, guess, overall, I've had a very good life, and look forward to the day I can retire, and maybe see more of this great land of ours, while travelling in a RV. School As a child, I attended, the Mid-Del School system, throughout my school years. My first school was Glenwood Elementary, where I attended, kindergarden and the first grade. (This school is no longer in use, as it is in an area that was in the flight path of aircraft which were landing at Tinker AFB, from the north. Several aircraft crashed in that housing addition, before it was purchased by the base in the early 1970's). The second, third, fourth and fifth grades, I attended Sooner-Rose Elementary, and the sixth grade, I had a choice, as to where I could attend. I could have stayed at Sooner-Rose or I could attend Epperly Heights Elementary. I chose to attend Epperly Heights. That's where I met the girl, I would later marry, in 1970. After the sixth grade, I attended, Del Crest Junior High, where, the grades were, fifth, sixth and seventh grades, the first year, sixth, seventh and eighth the following yearn and then starting the third year, it was, the seventh, eighth and ninth grades, from then on. I was in the first class to graduate from Del Crest Junior High. My tenth through twelfth grades, were at Del City High School, and is where I graduated from in 1968. After, high school, I attended, Draughon's School of Business, until, November, 1969. After that, my schooling consisted of schools I had while in the Air Force, until, I separated from there in 1985, and attended Rose State College, until, I graduated, in May 1987, with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. In the fall of 1987, I started college at Central State University, (which later changed its name, to the University of Central Oklahoma), while working on my Bachelor's degree. I attended, UCO, until December 1989, when the deadline for my college, utilizing the G.I. bill, set by Congress, a few years earlier, came to an end. I lost about twelve months, give or take a few months either way, due to that deadline. I have been unable to finish that degree yet. I hope, I can finish that degree, sometime in the future, since, I only need twenty-four semester hours, to complete the Bachelor's Degree. College My college education consist of credits, I earned while I was in the Air Force and after I separated from the Air Force. I started my college while I was in the Air Force and continued after I left the military, by attending Rose State College and then attending Central State of Oklahoma, (which later changed its name to the Uni...Expand for more
versity of Central Oklahoma). I earned my Associate's degree from Rose State and just need twenty-four semester hours to complete my Bachelor's degree, which I hope to be able to complete some time in the future. When, that is, I can't tell, but, maybe, I'll be able to achieve that goal, in due time. Workplace I left the military in April 1985, and came back to live in Del City, OK, where I grew up as a child. I kind of took it easy for about three of four weeks and through the reference from a high school friend, I was hired as a security guard, by a company which provided the guards for Rose State College. I was there as a guard until October 1985, when I was hired by Tinker AFB, and have worked there since then until the present time. I will probably be at Tinker from now until I retire, which, I'm looking forward to in probably eight to twelve more years. Guess, I'll wait and see how things go between now and then, but, the year 2012, is where I'm thinking at the moment. I guess, between these five biographies, that pretty well depicts my life up to now. Just a quick line or two here. Due to health problems with Jeannie, and myself and a few things around the house. Jeannie and I decided to retire from the federal government and enjoy the rest of our life together and with our children and grandchildren. So, 31 October 2005, I officially retired from the federal government. The only other thing is that the time we had left together, was cut short, on 27 April 2007, when she unexpectedly passed away while I was in New Mexico, attending the funeral of my Aunt Shorty. The nice thing about her death, even though it was unexpected, was she went quickly. She didn't suffer any. We had just celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary earlier that month. It will be hard to think that in just a few short months, that she will have been gone a year. I am, trying my best to continue with my life, as I know that is what Jeannie would want me to do. I guess, if things, go right, I'll be at the 4o year class reunion. Hope to see everyone there or all that can make it. Military My military career began in November, 1969, when, I, enlisted in the United States Air Force. I attended basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, in San Antonio. I, then went to Sheppard AFB, TX, in Wichita Falls, where I was trained to be a Reciprocating Engine Mechanic. I complete that course in April 1970, came home and got married and then went to England AFB, LA, in Alexandria. Stayed there for eleven months and went to Vietnam, in May, 1971 for twelve months. I was stationed at Phan Rang AFB, for eight months and then was transferred to Tan Son Nhut AB, in Saigon, for the last four months. I returned to the United States in May 1972, and was stationed at Norton AFB, CA, in San Bernardino. Stayed there until, September 1973, I believe, and then I went back to Sheppard AFB, TX, to take Accounting and Finance Course. I was there until November, 1973, when I completed that course and got orders to go to F.E. Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY. Stayed there until May 1977, when I went back to Lackland AFB, to take the Security Police Course and then to Camp Bullis, TX, for about four weeks, I think. I then, returned to F.E. Warren, and stayed there until June 1978, when I received orders to go to Incirlik AB, Turkey. I stayed at Incirlik, for about two months when I had to come home on emergency leave to bury my father. I was able to stay home until after October, 1978 when my youngest daughter was born. I tried to get a humanitarian assignment while home during that time, but was turned down. I went back to Incirlik AB, in Turkey, and finished my stay there. I returned back the the United States, in October, 1979, I think, and went to Grand Forks AFB, ND, which is about twelve miles west of the town of Grnad Forks. I stayed there at that base until April 1985, when, I separated from the Air Force and returned to Del City, OK, where, I have lived since that time. I was out of the military from April 1985 until October, 1985, when I was hired on at Tinker AFB, OK, and have been since that time. Just to update this part of the bio's, I retired 31 Oct 2005. It has been good so far.
