Kennon's Story
Military
I had a great time in the Air Force. I enlisted in 1974 with the idea of pursuing a college education. I eventually got my under grad degree ten years later, and my commission through Officer Training School in 1985. I also got my masters degree while still in the Air Force in 1990.
I had assignments at Lackland AFB, TX (1974); Keesler AFB, MS (1974-1975); Cannon AFB, NM (1975-1979); Izmir, Turkey (1979-1981); McClellan AFB, CA (1981-1982); Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX (1982-1984); Medina Annex, Lackland AFB, TX (1985); Scott AFB, IL (1985-1988); The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ (1988-1990); Wright-Patterson AFB, OH (1990-1995); and the Pentagon, Washington, DC (1995-1999).
I enjoyed every one of my assignments. I took up motorcycle riding in New Mexico, and SCUBA diving in Turkey. I ...Expand for more
always had interesting work to do at all of my assignments, and terrific people to work with.
I wouldnÃÂt recommend the military for everyone. While there are occupations to fit most anyoneÃÂs interest, each of the Services is accompanied by a completely unique lifestyle--each of the Services different from the other. And, like any job or career, it should be entered after careful consideration.
After my military retirement, I continued working in the Pentagon under contract with the Air Force employed by several different companies that changed over time through acquisitions and company buy-outs. I finally retired retired and moved from the DC area in July of 2011.
I now live on Franklin Lake near Pelican Rapids, MN--about an hour and a half from the grandkids! Life doesn't get much better than this.
