College
Worked my way through school.
Started at Motlow St. Community College (after a "career" sweeping floors at Wilton Corp. in Winchester, TN).
Transferred to Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in 1976 and worked at the Cracker Barrel Rest. at I-24 and Hwy 231. School was a little off-and-on for a period of time while I also worked at the Daily News Journal...Expand for more
as a "bicycle route counciler" and had my own newspaper route (about 350 papers). Keeping the bills paid.
Graduated in 1981 with a BS in Chemistry and went on to get an MS in Chemistry (worked as a lab instructor) a couple of years later.
Workplace
After the "school" jobs (dishwasher, cook at Cracker Barrel and the Newspaper delivering thing) and after the MS Chemistry stuff:
Starting in 1983, worked at Precision Rubber in Lebanon, TN as a development chemist, working on materials for o-rings.
In 1984, took at job with Dayco Products in Springfield also as a development chemist working on material development for industrial and hydraulic hoses.
In 1987, moved to Stow, OH and started working for DuPont as a technical service and development chemist for the Elastomers Division.
In 1996, I made a really crazy decision and transferred into Sales and Marketing for DuPont. (this was the only way I could get back down south). We moved to Peachtree City, GA and have been there ever since.
