My hobbies include growing plants such as dragon fruit and harvesting 2+ pound lemons, corresponding with classmates from my old grammar school (and treat them to lunch every once in awhile). I also like to buy "memory lane" items I remember from my childhood (fiery hot cinnamon toothpicks, silly putty, miniature Slinkys, etc..) and giving them away as gifts - I'm sure some of you remember that stuff! Workplace: Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up working at Los Angeles City Hall, after working 20+ years in the commercial banking industry. Although I've passed the age when most people are forced to retire, I'm still working full time at City Hall. I figure that if I enjoy working on my assignments, why should I retire? Besides, City civil service has no required retirement age limit. (Profile notes revised 02.10.20.) Update 12.08.20: I must confess that I've become quite a practical joker, usually in my office. I've "victimized" my coworkers, my supervisors, my Division Heads, my Assistant General Managers, and my Department General Managers. Do I live my professional life dangerously? No. My limit is one practical joke per person, although I have had one exception and played three on one of my Department's General Managers who recently retired effective (6.30.20). If she reads this profile, she knows who she is (her initials are C.T.B., and she can refer to my question about a date - the fruit of a palm tree, not the other kind). One of my former Assistant General Managers said that I have a quirky sense of humor. I have to agree.
