Kenya's Story
Life
After too many relentless years at UIUC, I thanked God I made it through and received my B.S. in Biology. Wished I had majored in maybe Human Development Family Services, but oh well. Worked for the past 4 1/2 years at Special Services as Office Manager and Legal Assistant to General Counsel. Of course, I have worked p/t at Blockbuster for 3 years and Sears for a year and counting. Finally decided to go back to school to Webster University to work towards a M.A. in Legal Studies and Paralegal Certification. No kids. But, I did meet my future in South Carolina. We hope to relocate to Phoenix, AZ but I'll keep you posted. Still have a lot of dreams on the backburner that I hope to bring to fruition in the future.
School
Biggest crush?? I'll keep that one to myself. The teachers who most inspired me were all of my senior teachers. I could not have asked for any better than them. However, the ones that stick out in my mind the most are Ms. Mayes, Mr. Solomon, Mr. Nighossian, Ms. Hayes (homeroom), and Mr. Griffin (band director). Of course I would love to relive the high school days. They are some of my fondest memories.
College

We were just getting to know each other when her father mentioned he had relatives in the STL area; he named my father, uncles, paternal grandmother, etc. We really found out that day that it is truly a SMALL WORLD! We loved to eat at Wok on the Wildside on Fridays in PAR and Soul Food on Thursdays in FAR. We used to drink mountain dew, coffee (which I later found out I could not stomach) and this other stuff that gave you the jitters. I would never do that again. UIUC was difficult and I'm just glad I made it out still breathing.
Workplace
I have had so many jobs from telemarketing, Taco Bell, Upward Bound teacher/tutor, Urban League after-school program coordinator, lab assistant, Chemistry tutor, Blockbuster, Sears. . . I loved tutoring . . . it has probably been my favorite. Urban League and my job now are the only times I have actually had an office. It's cool but not all of what it is cracked up to be. At this point in my life, I want to do something else! So hopefully you will hear some good news soon. Right now I'm trying to do a lot of things and it is just not enough time in the day. Pray for me! Cross your fingers!
Military
