Kerri's Story
Life
LIFE UPDATE: well, after a HUGE MISTAKE in life (circa 1995), I've moved onto more "normal" and fulfilling things LOL let's see, GOT ALL A's in college (except for ONE B+ for which I have an excuse... my half sister Suzan had died in a car accident during this period. Hard to maintain focus)...I majored in psychology, go figure, Psi Beta, graduating Cum Laude...WHILE going to college, I attended cosmetology classes and graduated at the top of my class, with a 92 on my state board. Of course, I wasn't happy with myself for "only" obtaining a 92, but I've got to deal with it! I've been working steady until the summer of 2004, when I was pregnant with my daughter Gina.
Got married in 2003 to a wonderful, kind, intelligent man, Patrick DeBlasi; and our little cherub Gina was born on December 2004. Our second baby together is Evelyn, born a week before Halloween, in 2006.
I have 3 kids from my previous marriage; Crissy is 19 now (yes, I was pregnant with her my senior year in high school, you may remember!) and attends Sacred Heart University, where she's doing fantastic, pulling wonderful grades, I am so incredibly proud of her! She's tall and thin and just incredibly beautiful, too. Tony and Vinny are on a school hiatus at the present time, hopefully this is just a temporary state of being?! They are great boys, each 6' tall and handsome. They are personable, warm, loving kids, all of them, kind hearted and thoughtful, and I couldn't love them more! They are great brothers and a sister to little Gina and baby Evelyn.
I live in West Haven with my husband Patrick, Gina, and Evelyn, in a home we bought back in 2001. It's a colonial built in 1908, complete with a ghost who walks heavily across the kitchen (we later found out an older woman had died in the kitchen, I wasn't surprised!) which adds an element of excitement around here I must say!
I plan to go back to work after Gina and Evelyn are in school, and also are considering going back to school yet again, since I've found as an adult I LOVE SCHOOL!!!! And I'm quite good at it, as my grades in high school would never reflect due to my juvenile priorities. Working while my three now-teenagers were very young, I missed out on much quantity and quality time with them. I really believe kids need that one-on-one time with a loving supportive mom, an...Expand for more
d I don't want to deny Gina and Evelyn that opportunity since I can actually afford to not work! I enjoy my days with the little girlies, helping them learn new words and get to know the world around them. I'm really having a blast watching the kids aquiring new tricks every day! They certainly are smart, inquisitive little girls.
I'm very outspoken about the fact that I'm against factory farms and the horrifying and disgusting things that occur to farm animals in those situations (and thusly enjoy a vegan, healthy diet). I started as vegetarian for many years, but when I found out the conditions under which chickens are crammed into tiny cages and can't spread their wings, have their beaks cut off their faces to prevent them pecking at each other due to the crammed quarters, they can't even spread out a wing in their entire life, and I'm going to partake of the eggs produced under that situation? I think not! Or that cows who normally produce 10 pounds of milk are medicated and forced to bear up to 140 pounds of milk a day, and can hardly walk under the weight of their udders? Oh heck no, I don't want to contribute to that, either! And meat at all.. that goes without saying... the pain and horror animals go through, I could just lose my lunch thinking about it. Feel free to watch the videos at the PETA website and decide for yourself. If you can view them and then still eat meat? You've got a heart of stone... or a stomach of steel!
I've come to the point in life where I can look back and say "what was I thinking" and "why didn't I do this instead of that" and "why did I waste my time", but it's all water under the bridge. I've learned so much in the past 10 years I can hardly believe I'm the same person that did half the things I did as recent as 10 years ago. I'm so happy with my life now, so content... and it'd be really nice to catch up with old friends and see how the heck everyone's doing. I love to hear good news about old acquaintences opening businesses or getting married or seeing pics of their little ones... I really love it. I'm happy to hear good news, whatever it is, it's always enriching. If anyone reads this and feels so inclined, and you knew me in high school or before, drop me a line, let me know how you are. I often wonder how people are doing, it's nice to hear first hand!
