Kerry's Story
Life
Still in Dallas, ugh.
Married to a wonderful woman (Vicki) who just happens to have graduated from R.L.T. also. I always knew Turner women were the best!
One son, who's ten. He swims like a fish, plays soccer, baseball, tae kwan do, is learning piano better learn the trumpet or at least tenor sax, so he can get a few gigs. He is unquestionably the answer to..."the meaning of life".
I've been in real estate advisory or development since the late 80s. I'm employed currently with a Dallas based real estate advisory (Research & Strategic Development Director).
I still play jazz...all the time. Recently I played in a small group that plays jazz/funk (j-unk) see DJazzonline dot com. I was on staff with Galen Jeter & Dallas' Original Jazz Orchestra (our 13th album recently released...see GalenJeter dot com). The new CD is great, no kidding. Plenty of heavies playing on it and some great original writing. I have started a new latin jazz project. I cant even speak spanglish but I dig the latin thing. It's called Clave Con Alma (Latin with Soul). We do jazz that's been bent toward the latin side of thing. Three horns and five rhythm including a congo and an LP player.
I'm back in school once a week with Dan Haerle, the father of jazz education, now retired from UNT and teaching free lance. He's giving the tools so I can make diminished scales fall outa my horn the wa...Expand for more
y I want them to.
I'm still riding motorcycles, bicycling and fly when I can.
I know how to reach Tracy Moore, Chris Dugas, Ben Phillips, Pete Diffin, Jay Bluthardt, Jim Vernon, Chris Rousseau, Greg Waits and a few others from Turner... they are all priceless.
Cheers.
College
College. Hmmmm, basically adult day care. I dont really think I learned a damn thing there, at least nothing I'm currently pedaling anyway. Had one hell of a lot of fun though. You just cant beat living in a co-ed dorm with a bunch of pre-meds, jazz majors, pot heads, future preachers, and ex-military types getting theirs on the g.i. bill. Man I wish I knew then what I know now. Oh course if I did, I probably wouldn't know anything now. Whatever. It was fun. I highly recommend it, even if you do it late in life. Hanging with college as an old phart is fun cause you leave the campus and go home to HBO, a pool, your nice car etc. and can eat out at nice places. All the meaningless stuff you dreamed of having when you were 20.
Workplace
Currently employed with a real estate advisory as Director of Strategy and Research (Strategary, as Bush might say). Prefer concentrating on the multifamily development business, but retail and office aren't too bad. CCIM, MBA (Real Estate), associations with ICSC, ARES, NMHC, ULI the usual suspects and other seemingly random self-important letter associations.
