Gene's Story
A brief edit to my profile. We purchased a home in Pismo Beach back in 2016. We completely renovated it. It was completed in January 2019. Three months later, My wife Kerry Halliburton Smith was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away 6 months after that. She didn't really get to enjoy the new home and all the work we put into it. We were married 43 years. This is the greatest tragedy of my life. She was an Alum of Saint Joseph's High School in Lakewood. It would be appreciated if any of her classmates who remember her would drop a little memory of her here. Thank you. the update to my life. I just sold my little horse ranch in Yorba Linda. I still have the place in South Carolina, but getting ready to buy a beach house up around Pismo. I will still be bi coastal until I get ready to sell the South Carolina home, I just need to be back at the ocean..LOL. I just bought my new toy......As you can see in the pic..Will be off for points unknown taking rides throughout the country......I finally get to play Easy Rider...
I just realized that my original bio has been delieted..Anyway..I retired from 27 yrs with the LAPD. I worked numerous speicalized units, finally ending up as the Watch Commander in Hollywo...Expand for more
od Division. A unique and funny position.
I now live in South Carolina most of the time, but still maintain my home in the good old OC. I try to get back there often to visit my two daughters. When I first retired I got into municipal government and was elected to City council down here. Also got into skeet shooting and playing golf alot, bjut after 3 yrs, you can only shoot so many clay pigeons and hit soo many little white balls, that it becomes boring. My wife travels alot for both business and recreation, sooo I spend a lot of time by myself out here. Got lots to do though, I have five acres to take care of and a huge house that we built and I bounce off the walls in..lol. Anyway, I think it's time to start looking for a job to keep me busy. My ultimate job would be to take over as Chief of Police for a small municipality down here...if not,, my other dream job is to drive the Ferry in Balboa..I/ve always wanted that job.....UPDATE...I have come out of retirement after seven years....I am an executive firearms and ordnance training and sales consultant. Big title....doesn't mean much..lol....I just get to play with guns....and teach big wigs how to shoot them...lol..I can't believe I get paid for it......
